Houses, not flats. At the last census, 92.5% of Redhead dwellings were separate houses and close to four in ten had four or more bedrooms, so hot water here means house-sized systems for families.
Newer systems in the newer estates. Seasands and the other upmarket 1990s estates are younger than the 1894 township streets, and their hot water units have not stood in the salt air as long as the cottages near the bluff.

When we're not the right call: a heat pump that needs a new circuit or a switchboard upgrade needs a licensed electrician first, and a roof too weak to carry a solar tank is a builder's job. That trade goes first, and the plumbing follows once their part is done.
Do you bring a temporary hot water tank to Redhead homes while a replacement is on order?
Yes. While your new unit is on its way from the supplier, we can hook up a temporary tank so showers and dishes carry on. We take it away the day the permanent system is commissioned.
My hot water smells like rotten eggs. Is the tank failing?
Not necessarily. A sulphur smell points first to the sacrificial anode inside a storage cylinder, and a new anode costs far less than a new tank. Near the coast, get it checked early, because we look over the casing for rust on the same visit.
The casing on my outside cylinder is rusting through. Can that be repaired?
Not in any lasting way. When saltwater corrosion has holed the outer skin, the inner tank is next, so replacing the unit is the straight answer. While the casing is still whole, a valve or element repair is worth doing.
Do you install gas continuous-flow units in Redhead, or only electric?
Both. Our licensed gas fitters put in gas storage and instantaneous gas units and test the supply pipe during the fit. Electric storage, heat pump and solar installs are ours as well.
