Gas Appliance Installation Redhead

Gas appliance installation in Redhead means a licensed gas fitter connecting your new hob, oven, heater, barbecue outlet or pool heater, testing the pipe and lighting it up. You approve a fixed price first, and one phone call books it. Drains and hot water come from the same plumber in Redhead.

Which gas appliances can be fitted?

If it burns gas, indoors or out, a licensed fitter connects it:

  • Hobs, built-in ovens and upright stoves
  • Flued and unflued heaters for the lounge
  • Barbecue bayonets and patio heaters on the deck
  • Heaters for the pool or spa
  • Gas storage and continuous-flow water heaters, explained under hot water systems

What drives the cost of an appliance install?

An install is priced first on the appliance and the gas it draws.

  • The appliance's gas demand, since a pool heater may need a bigger pipe than a two-burner hob
  • Metres of new copper, from a short tee off a live line to a run out to the back deck
  • The wall construction, as fibro and weatherboard take fixings faster than brick veneer
  • Commissioning, including a pressure test and a detector pass on each joint

Salt, Old Walls and the Estate Cottages

Cottages from the 1927 sales

Some weatherboard and fibro cottages sold in the Ocean Beach Estate sales of 1927 are still standing. New pipe goes into lightweight walls without the chasing brick needs, but old gas joints in those houses get tested before a new appliance goes on them.

Salt on outside fittings

Saltwater corrosion is fierce between Redhead Bluff and the dunes, so an outdoor bayonet or heater flange goes up in marine-rated brass. Standard inland parts do not last here.

Kitchens in clubs and shops

Gas fit-outs for commercial kitchens are handled through our commercial plumbing work.

When We're Not the Right Call

Gas escaping from the meter or the street supply is for the gas distributor's faults line, not an installer. If you smell gas inside the house instead, see gas leak repairs, and for new pipe runs and other work go back to gas fitting.

Gas Appliance Questions

Do you install gas cooktops in Redhead homes with old galvanised supply nearby?

Yes. The gas and water are separate services, so old galvanised water pipe does not stop a cooktop going in. If those steel water lines are rusting too, we price them as a separate job and you choose whether and when to replace them.

Can a BBQ bayonet point go on a fibro wall near the coast?

It can. Fibro takes a bracket and fixings chosen for sheeting, and the bayonet and pipe clips on the outside face are marine-rated. A standard brass outlet facing the surf wind would pit well before its time.

Does a new oven connect to the existing gas line or need new pipe?

That comes down to pipe size. We measure the existing run and add up the burners already drawing on it, then quote either a straight connection or a new branch from the meter side. The price you approve is the price on the invoice.

Do you remove the old appliance when you fit the new one?

Yes. Disconnecting the old cooktop or heater comes with the install, and any outlet left unused is capped and tested. Tell us when you book if the old unit should leave on the ute, and it goes with us.
