Drain Jetting Redhead

Drain jetting in Redhead cleans a blocked pipe with a hose firing water at high pressure, stripping sand, grease and fine roots off the pipe wall. It clears the coating an electric eel leaves. Your plumber in Redhead gives you a set price up front; book by phone or the form.

When Does a Jetter Beat the Eel?

An electric eel bores through a plug and leaves the coating behind. The jetter washes the pipe back to its full width, so the next heavy rain has less to catch on.

Jetting is the better tool when:

  • Grease has coated the walls of a kitchen or laundry line
  • Fine sand has packed into a cracked pipe near the dunes
  • Root mass has spread along a joint instead of forming one plug
  • The same fixture keeps blocking after earlier clears

One solid plug in an otherwise clean pipe can be eel work, and that is a smaller price. Drain camera inspection footage shows which one your pipe needs.

How the Jetter Scours a Line

The nozzle has one jet facing forward and several angled back. The front one breaks up the blockage, and the rear ones pull the hose along while washing the loosened sand and grease out to the opening.

Sand, Roots and the Jet

Sand that settles

Redhead sits on sand and shale, and wind off Redhead Beach drops sand into any open or broken gully. Sand settles in the low spots of a pipe and builds up, and a jetter flushes it out where an eel would just pass through it.

Old clay and native roots

Clay sewers from the 1894 township have joints that have opened in the sand, and banksia and tea-tree growth behind the beach sends roots into them. The jet trims fine roots and washes the pipe; heavy root mass is a cutting job.

What Goes Into a Jetting Quote?

"We talked through the options of our blocked kitchen sink drain (not just an s bend problem) and came to the perfect long term solution at a reasonable price." Debbie

Hose time is the main cost in jetting:

  • Metres to the blockage, since a choke near the street takes more hose than one beside the house
  • The material, as packed sand, a grease coating and fibrous roots each take different nozzles and time
  • Openings, and whether the hose can reach the blocked section from one of them
  • Night or weekend attendance, which is dearer

Nothing is jetted until you have agreed the figure.

When We're Not the Right Call

Collapsed pipe

Jetting cannot rebuild a pipe that has caved in. That needs a pipe reline or a dig, and the camera shows it before any jetting is priced.

Public sewer

When the choke is in Hunter Water's main rather than your drain, jetting from your side is the wrong fix, and they clear it.

Sewage coming up inside the house is a blocked sewer, and every drain service is listed under drain clearing.

Drain Jetting Questions

Can jetting shift sand out of a drain near the beach?

Yes. The rear-facing jets flush sand back out to the opening instead of driving it further along, so jetting suits drains close to the dunes. If sand returns after a clear, there is a crack letting it in, and we find that crack on camera and price the repair.

Will high-pressure water damage old clay pipes in Redhead?

Not when the pressure matches the pipe. Clay laid with the old township is jetted softer than PVC, and any line we have not seen is filmed first. If a section is already cracked, we mark it for repair and keep the jet off it.

Do you jet stormwater lines as well as sewers in Redhead?

We do. Rainwater pipes fill with sand, leaves and silt, and the same machine flushes them. Outlets near the beach that fight a high sea during storms can need more than a flush, which the stormwater page explains.

Can I book a jetter at night if the drain has backed up?

Yes, we are Available 24/7. The van carries the jetter, camera and eel together, so finding and clearing the fault is one booking. Night work is charged at a higher rate, and you hear the price before we start.
