CCTV Drain Inspection Redhead

CCTV drain inspection in Redhead puts a waterproof camera on a flexible rod inside your drain, so we can see roots, sand, a broken joint or something lodged. You see the screen as it happens, and the repair is priced from what it shows. Book it with your plumber in Redhead by phone or the form.

Plumber running a drain camera at an outdoor pit

Why Film the Line Before Anyone Digs?

A guessed fix can mean paying twice. The camera shows you:

  • Whether the blockage is roots, sand, grease or a broken joint
  • Where the fault sits, measured along the line
  • Whether the pipe could take a reline or needs digging up
  • Whether the old drain has shifted out of line in the sandy ground

A recording also helps where a drain is shared by neighbours or a strata scheme: it shows whose section the fault is in before anyone pays.

How Does a Drain Camera Inspection Run?

No digging is involved. We:

  1. 1

    Pick a way in

A gully, a capped inspection point or a lifted toilet pan, whichever gives the straightest path.

  2. 2

    Push the camera along

Its lights show the pipe wall, and the cable counter tells us how many metres in the fault sits.

  3. 3

    Talk you through it

You watch the monitor while we explain what you are seeing, and the recording is saved.

  4. 4

    Price the fix

Knowing what the fault is and where, we give you a fixed price.

What the Footage Changes About the Fix

What we see sets the next job:

Tree roots exposed around a pipe in a trench

Roots in a joint

Tree root removal, then a check of where they came in.

Plumber working a drain-clearing machine

Grease or silt

Drain jetting, water only, no chemicals.

Pipe relining equipment set up in a shower recess

Cracked or stepped clay

Pipe relining, a new pipe wall formed inside the old one.

Several fixtures overflowing at once point to a blocked sewer, and every other drain service is listed under blocked drains.

How a Camera Job Is Priced

A camera job is priced mostly on metres of pipe:

  • Length filmed A branch off the laundry is quick; the full line from the back of the block to the street takes longer.
  • Ways in A second opening lets us film from both ends.
  • A clear first A pipe that is packed solid has to be opened before the camera can travel.
  • What you need to keep A spoken rundown, or a saved recording for a strata committee or insurer.

Clay, Sand and the Streets Behind the Bluff

Clay under the 1894 streets

Under the original grid, the sewer pipe is glazed earthenware, more than a hundred years old and bedded in soft sand. On camera, that shows as joints rotated off line and lips where one pipe no longer meets the next.

Sand from the dunes

Onshore wind lifts sand off the dunes into broken gullies close to the water, and one storm is enough to silt up a damaged pipe. On the monitor, grey sand settled in the pipe looks nothing like root growth, and that tells us whether jetting will do or the pipe needs repair.

What Customers Say

Our blocked toilet morphed into a huge plumbing earthworks project due to extreme pipe damage from tree roots.

When We're Not the Right Call

If the camera travels past your boundary and finds the fault in Hunter Water's own main, they fix their pipe, and the recording helps when you report it. A pressure water pipe leaking under a slab is not a drain at all; that is water leak detection.

Drain Camera Questions

Do I need a camera inspection before relining a drain in Redhead?

Yes. A liner needs a pipe that still holds its round shape, and only footage proves that. We film the line, measure the damaged length, and then price the reline as a fixed figure.

Can the camera tell sand from tree roots?

It can. Sand ingress looks like pale grit settled in the dips of the pipe, and roots look like hairy clumps growing from a joint. Near the dunes that matters: sand is jetted out, while roots are cut and the joint may then need relining.

What if the camera finds a collapsed section of drain?

We stop and show you the collapse on the monitor. If the pipe either side still holds shape, a reline can bridge it; if not, that length is dug out and replaced. You get a fixed price for your choice, and we keep the recording on file.

Is the camera run part of getting a drain cleared?

Yes. On a blocked drain we film before clearing to choose the tool and after to prove the pipe is open, all on the one booking. A stand-alone inspection, say before buying a house, can be booked on its own too.
